Don't Let Doubt Rob Your Knowledge

Recently, while searching for keepsakes to honor a dear friend's memory, I stumbled upon a letter I didn’t even realize I had. Its words brought me back to a defining moment in my life.

At 18 years old, I was asked to be the Master of Ceremonies for the graduating class of 1995. Imagine that—a teenager, fresh out of high school, handed the mic to address a crowd.

Even now, I wonder what my high school principal saw in me to entrust me with such a responsibility. What did she recognize in that young girl that I couldn’t yet see in myself?

It’s ironic when I think about it. Over the past few years, I’ve invested significant time, effort, and resources into honing my speaking skills, mastering the art of captivating an audience. Yet, back then, armed with nothing more than a high school diploma and an audacious lack of fear, I rose to the occasion.

This memory reminds me of something I often tell others but needed to hear myself: we consistently underestimate our own abilities. How many times have I encouraged someone to believe in their untapped potential, forgetting to reflect on my own journey?

We often say, “Life is short,” almost as a reflex. But moments like this—moments when a forgotten piece of our history resurfaces—brings a different weight to those words. Life is short. And the time to act is always now.

So today, I challenge you: take the step you’ve been hesitating over. Do the thing you’ve been dreaming of but haven’t dared to try. Perhaps there’s someone in your life who already sees your potential, someone who believes in your ability to make it happen—even if you’re not quite convinced yourself.

And if fear whispers, “What if it doesn’t work?” ask yourself this instead: What if it does?

Better yet, think of this—whose life could be transformed by the gift you’re holding back? What if your courage inspires just one person to take their leap? What if the life you end up saving, in some unexpected way, is your own?

The world needs your voice, your talent, and your light. Don’t let doubt keep it hidden. Step forward. Speak up. Share your gift.

If I am able to provide you with support on your journey in any way, I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you. Please take the time to schedule your FREE 45 minute consultation.

I look forward to hearing from you.
